DIDCOT Conservative Club lifted the regional All England team championship after beating Kennington 3-2 at the Red Lion, Cassington, writes PETE EWINS.

Phil Collins (9,710) and Leon Beer (10,650) put Didcot 2-0 up, before Ian Gordon (10,570) and Mark Trafford (9,610) levelled the scores.

In the last game, Tony Martin secured victory, playing out the table with 18,450 to hand Didcot the crown.

In league action, Premier leaders Vikings beat Didcot Conservative Club 3-2.

They were 2-1 down, but hit back for victory with wins from Ian Moss (8,030) and skipper Bob Allsworth.

Kennington lost 3-2 at home to Masons, Mick Murphy beating Kevin Godfrey in the deciding game.

Section 1 leaders Masons B crashed to a 3-2 defeat at home to Comrades Club.

Ernie Smith (11,000 and Dave Butt (7,600) won for the home side.

But successes for Chris Alexander (8,950), Chris Storch (5,370) and Simon Ellam (12,270) secured victory for Comrades.

In Section 2, Marlborough Club beat Vikings B 4-1.

Their wins came from Chris Bateman, Chris Iagoe, Arthur McIntyre and Ian Major.

In Section 3, only two points separate the top three teams.

Leading the pack are Headington Conservative Club, who won 4-1 at Shelley thanks to victories from Sid Ponting, Dave Gordon, Graham Mildenhall and Tim Jeffries.

Meanwhile, Gladiators B beat Dolphin 3-2.

  • OXFORD A reached the final of the Inter Area Cup after a 5-0 victory in their return leg against Wyc-ombe B.

Leading 4-1 from the first leg, Oxford wrapped up a 9-1 aggregate success.

In the opening game, Mark Trafford scored 18,060, including breaks of 11,000 and 7,000.

He was well supported by Alan Oliver (9,430, break 6,000), Kevin Godfrey (5,610), Dave Took (7,890) and Steven Sheard (14,070, break 9,000).
