Morris Motors Exiles took advantage of the abandonment of the rest of the league programme to close the gap between them and Horspath at the top of the Division 3.

Torrential thunderstorms and hail storms prevented more than an hour's play in any other game and most of them did not even start, as the parched pitches of recent weeks became small lakes.

In the only game to be finished in Saturday's fixture list, Motors beat Hanborough by five wickets.

Rob Lovick's superb unbeaten 67 helped Hanborough to reach 182-6. That was despite the attentions of Faisal Chaudry, who captured 4-30.

This total proved insufficient as half-centuries from Mansoor Abbasi (57no) and Salman Khan (54no) saw Exiles home after an early collapse.

They are now just three points behind Horspath, who picked up ten points for their abandoned game away to Cumnor 2nd.
