Chinnor are taking nothing for granted as they prepare to host winless Cheltenham Tigers in National 3 South West tomorrow.

Head coach Jason Bowers is looking to make the most of facing four of the bottom five sides in the next five matches.

But he is warning Cheltenham will battle hard at Kingsey Road.

“Cheltenham have lost five games by seven points or fewer,” said Bowers, whose side are eighth.

“They are obviously competing really well.

“They are due a win, but hopefully it won’t be this week.

Chinnor make one change from the squad that lost 28-21 at Bridgwater & Albion, with Huw Morgan coming in for injured centre Trevor Powell.

Reflecting on that defeat, Bowers said: “We are disappointed as we played pretty well.

“We had a few unforced errors in the first half, but improved after that.

“At the end of the day, we were unlucky not to come away with a draw and a four-try bonus point.

“The table is so tight that one win can put you up there.”

School teachers Mark Forth, Huw Jones and Ian Murray return to the Oxford Harlequins squad for their trip to Newton Abbot.

Hooker James Clark and back Barty Hills come in after injury, but scrum half Anthony Cope and prop Pete Boulton are unavailable.

Ryan Newman reverts to the back row after filling in as a centre in last week’s 41-15 home defeat to leaders Hartpury College.

Quins are one place and six points above the relegation zone, but director of rugby John Brodley stressed they are looking up at those above them rather than over their shoulder.

“We are very much looking forward now to a period of stability in terms of players,” said Brodley.

“We hope we can kick-start our season this week and build from there.”

As for last week, Brodley said: “We played very well for 60 minutes then they scored and we lost our heads a little bit.”

Full back James Comben has been ruled out of Henley Hawks’ trip to Shelford in National 2 South with an ear injury.

Lock Howard Parr has a calf problem, but should be fit enough to be a replacement.

Neil Baggett replaces Comb-en, with Tommy Haynes coming in on the bench and Andy Downing and Chris Emmett retaining their back-row slots.

With only ten points separating the division’s top nine sides, fifth-placed Henley will look for a bonus-point victory to stay in the promotion hunt.
