A late Andy Parrott header gave Didcot Town a deserved 3-2 win against Banbury United in a pre-season friendly at the npower Loop Meadow Stadium on Saturday.

Banbury had opened the scoring in the first minute when ex-Puritan Andy Wallbridge hit a woeful backpass which allowed Neil Lazarus to intercept and side-foot past Chris Webb.

Didcot equalised in the 38th minute with Dave Green heading home from a free-kick.

But Banbury were back in front within a minute, Wayne Blossom turning the ball home into an unguarded net following a corner.

With Paul Powell shining after coming on as a substitute at the break, Didcot went on to dominate the second half.

The former Oxford United man provided the cross for Wallbridge to make amends for his earlier error by heading home the equaliser at the far post.

Powell was again the provider for Didcot's winner with another powerful run and cross presenting Parrott with the chance to grab victory in the 85th minute.

Banbury continue their pre-season build-up with a friendly against Coca-Cola Championship side Coventry City at Spencer Stadium tonight (7.45).
