Banbury Bulls coach Grant Holmes believes his side have made progress since the beginning of the season.

Bulls won their first game on Saturday with a 38-22 success in an error-strewn display against Leamington.

Holmes said: “We are certainly looking a lot better than we were six weeks ago when we were a group of individuals.

“We mustn’t just rely on the ‘star players’ to do things. It is up to all players to think ‘I will do it’.”

Holmes was impressed by the debut performance of flanker Ian Keevil against Leamington.

But he admitted: “We lack decision makers. Unfortunately we don’t have an out-and-out fly half in our ranks now that Joe Mills has gone to university.

“We have just started Mike Smith in there and he is learning the position.”
