Chipping Norton professional Neil Rowlands finished his season in fine form with successive victories.

Rowlands finished joint first in the BB&O Autumn Classic at Reading where a three-under-par 67 saw him tie with Nick Mitchill (Newbury).

Two days later, he won the Southern Region PGA’s Wildwood Invitational at Guildford after a five-man play-off.

Rounds of 70 and 68 gave Rowlands a six-under-par total of 138.

Rowlands chipped in at the first play-off hole to match Guy Woodman (East Berks), then holed a 25-foot birde at the fourth to win the title.

Victory placed Rowlands sixth in the PGA Southern Region Order of Merit and second in the BB&O rankings.

Chipping Norton’s Nicole Howlett has won the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) Silver Rose Spoon Award.

Howlett won the competition’s prize for September after returning the month’s best nett score in her category.

Her nett 57 in round two of Chippy’s junior championship won the prize, while club junior handicap champion Alex Pitts was fifth.

Studley Wood upset the odds to reach the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes Leag-ue’s Knockout Cup final.

The Section 2 side defeated Frilford Heath, who are favourites to win Section 1, 2-1 to set up a final clash with Tadmarton Heath on November 6.

Frilford’s Paul Richardson and Paul Dolton beat Nigel Lawton and Neil Pettit by one hole in match one.

But Studley’s Simon Bulman and Nick Mortimer held off Ashley Walton and Ben Paterson to level by the same score.

Lee White and Mark Stokes sealed it 5&4 against Frilford’s Robert Mann and Jim Wilson.

The previous day, Frilford saw off Magnolia Park 3-0 in Section 1 to close in on leaders Chipping Norton and relegate Magnolia.

Frilford need seven points from their remaing two matches to be sure of winning the title.

Kirtlington pro Andy Taylor organised a coaching forum at The Belfry attended by Rudy Duran – Tiger Woods’s childhood coach.

Canadian national coach Henry Brunton, who also attended the forum, visited Kirtlington the following day, describing it as an “excellent facility”.
