Banbury United boss Billy Jeffrey has slammed “childish” striker Jason Taylor after he was sent off in their FA Carlsberg Trophy tie against Wimborne Town on Saturday.

Leading 1-0 in the first qualifying round clash, Jeffrey’s side were on course to progress, only for Taylor to receive a red card for grabbing Wimborne’s Ross Lloyd around the throat.

Wimborne later equalised to set up tonight’s home replay on their Cowgrove Road ground.

“I’m annoyed with Jason because now he misses three games,” said Jeffrey, whose side are set to be unchanged.

“What he did was so childish. I don’t know what he thought he was doing.

“Jason got elbowed across the face and then he has reacted by putting his hand to their player’s throat. He should know that you can’t do that.”

Aynsley McDonald and Aaron King, Banbury’s loan signings from Rushden, are cup-tied.

The winners will be away to Billericay in the second qualifying round on October 30.

Striker Andy McCabe and Owen Collins return to the squad for North Leigh’s home replay with Paulton Rovers.

On Saturday, North Leigh held on for a 3-3 draw after having Keiron Sanders and Toby Clark sent off.

Manager Mark Gee said: “We should have been out of sight by half-time, but we missed three one-on-ones. But we did well to hang on at the end.”

The victors host Swindon Supermarine.

Boss Mike Ford has hailed the return of Andy Ballard, who plays for the first time in 12 games when Oxford City entertain Halesowen in the Zamaretto Southern League Premier Division.

Ballard hasn’t played since going off with a cruciate knee injury in the 2-0 defeat at Chesham on August 17.

“I need my characters and winners on the pitch – Andy is one of those. We have missed his strength, power and honesty.

“On Saturday, if we’d have taken our chances we would have been 3-1 up, before they got their second.

“I think tonight’s game has come at the right time. We are playing a team who are on a worse run than we are.”

Didcot Town entertain Swindon Supermarine in the Premier Division.

Sam Elkins is back for Abingdon United when they host Sholing in Division 1 South & West.

Abingdon have signed former Supermarine striker Mark Barnes, 23, though he won’t be available until Saturday’s trip to Paulton.
