Wallingford thumped Wimborne 40-15 to record their first win of the season in South West 1 East.

Wimborne went ahead with an early penalty, but Wallingford, who fielded their heaviest pack, gained control.

Johnny Collett bagged their first try after great hands from fellow centre Angus Brettell, and fly half Oli Henderson converted.

Wing Ralph Smith collected his own chip-and-chase for try No 2, then prop Paul Lewis barged over from a catch-and-drive move.

Hooker Kris Blaszko secured the bonus point with another close-range try, with Henderson making it four out of four conversions.

Wallingford sealed the win after the break when Brettell kicked through for wing Dan Stalker to finish at pace.

Wimborne managed a try despite an apparent fumble, while home flanker Mike Chapman was sin-binned.

A lively last 15 minutes saw a Stalker interception try from his own 22, converted by Henderson, a Wimborne consolation try and conversion, plus yellow cards for Wallingford’s Dorian Jenkins and Matt Chapman.

Witney won 45-24 at Oakmeadians, with scrum half Gareth Campbell scoring a brace of tries.

The hosts opened up with a converted try, but Witney levelled when Campbell off-loaded for centre Carl Strutt to score under the posts, full back Ed Mitcham converting.

The hosts went 14-7 ahead, but tries from wing Lewis Collins and Campbell, after a 30-metre break from fly half Henry Lamb, converted by Mitcham made it 21-14 at half-time.

Campbell finished off a pushover move to score his second, then Nathan Phillips scooped up Lab’s cross-field kick to weave his way in, Mitcham converting both.

Oakmeadians reduced the arrears to 35-24 with two tries, while Witney had lock Owen Fowler sin-binned.

But a Mitcham penalty and try from prop Alan Richens, created by replacement Pierre Dubost and converted by Mitcham, sealed the win.

Gosford All Blacks edged out Drifters 22-20 in their re-arranged BB&O Premier Division clash.

Drifters opened the scoring with a try from centre Stewart Ashton.

Gosford’s returning lock Chris Sandom drove over from a maul and fly half Harry Sutton converted for 7-5.

Drifters’ James Branscombe kicked a penalty before Sutton had a try disallowed for a foot in touch. Sutton’s penalty made it 10-8 at the break.

Wing Matt Stalker and Sutton combined to create a try for scrum half Richard Robbins, Sutton converting.

Flanker Jack Clarke scored in the corner to make it 22-8.

A try from flanker James Kalinowski, converted by Branscombe, gave Drifters hope, then their fly half Mark Bannister was sin-binned.

Replacement Nigel Toome’s try made it tight, but Branscombe could not land the equalising conversion.
