Oxford Harlequins were undone by Hartpury College’s final flurry in a 41-15 home defeat in National 3 South West.

Quins led 15-12 with 15 minutes left before Hartpury’s superior fitness saw them score 29 unanswered points.

The hosts had prop Pete Boulton harshly yellow-carded in the first minute, but still took the lead six minutes later.

Scrum half Nick Stirzaker fed hooker Simon Chadbone, who dummied his way over from ten metres.

Hartpury, who included former Welsh international Nathan Thomas at No 8, hit back with a try from prop Richard Townsend, converted by full back James Love.

Centre Jean Botha’s try extended the visitors’ lead, while Quins had No 8 Jason Welburn sin-binned.

On his return, Welburn powered through for a try, converted by fly half Jeff Stewart.

Stewart kicked a long-range penalty to put Quins ahead just after the break.

Some deperate defence saw Hartpury wing Graham Spiers, lock Dave Casson and hooker Harry Collins sin-binned at different points.

But they came on strong with flanker Will Foden, Botha, Casson and centre Jack Hayes scoring tries and Love kicking a penalty and three conversions.

Chinnor had to be content with a bonus point in a 28-21 defeat at Bridgwater & Albion.

Tries from centre Sam Osbourne and wing James Austwick put Bridgwater 10-0 ahead.

Chinnor hit back on 20 minutes when wing Pip Seymour went over and fly half James Cathcart converted.

Full back Will Topps ran in a third try for the hosts, which was converted by fly half George Williams.

Cathcart converted a try from centre Trevor Powell to makke it 17-14, but Williams slotted penalties either side of half-time.

A 62nd-minute try from flanker Rob Burnell gave Bridgwater a decisive lead, although centre Matt Goode bagged a third score for Chinnor, Cathcart converting.
