Clanfield 2, Fairford Tn 1

DEFENDER Alan Rodgers’s broken leg marred Clanfield’s first-round win over Fairford Town.

Rodgers was taken off in the 65th minute with a nasty injury, which was later diagnosed as a fractured fibula.

Clanfield took the lead when Dean Mays’s crossfield pass found his brother Craig down the left.

Craig Mays fed Steve Olphert, who finished clincally.

Fairford equalised when Jacques Tertois finished from close range, but five minutes before the break, Dean Mays found Dan Bishop, who cut in and struck a shot into the net.

Wantage Tn 2, Shrivenham 1

RICHIE Claydon struck a last-gasp winner as Wantage Town reached the second round.

Claydon fired home a trademark free-kick to give Wantage the victory their play had deserved.

They went in front when defender Stuart Cattell headed firmly past Shrivenham keeper Luke Adams from Tom Butler’s corner.

In the second half, Wantage created a number of chances, Claydon seeing a shot well-saved by Adams.

Against the run of play, Shrivenham equalised when James Keller looper a shot over the head of Wantage keeper Gareth Tcker.

But with the clock ticking down, Claydon sealed the tie with his late free-kick.

Kidlington 0, Bitton 1

KIDLINGTON crashed out against their Western League opponents.

Bitton took the lead three minutes before the break when Guy Cocks’s shot hit the bar and Brandon Barnes netted the rebound.

In the second half, Lewis Gabbidon struck an effort against the bar, while Luke Holden had an effort charged down, but Kidlington could not find an equaliser.

AFC Wallingford 0, Dunstable Tn 5

THREE goals in the last ten minutes condemned Wallingford to defeat.

Kerran Birch gave Dunstable a 1-0 interval lead, before Dean Whittaker doubled their advantage.

Further goals from Jonathan Cooper and Luke Lincoln (2) completed the rout.
