Former Oxford Cheetahs star Lukas Dryml (pictured) has pulled out of the Czech Republic team for tonight's World Team Cup second-round clash against Denmark, Sweden and USA, to be at his badly-injured brother Ales's hospital bedside.

Ales, who was due to captain the national side, suffered severe injuries after a bad crash riding for Cheetahs against Wolverhampton.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe hospital's intensive care unit before being transferred to the Radcliffe Infirmary on Saturday where his condition yesterday was described as "stable."

The hospital have specifically assigned an intensive care/neurological nurse who speaks fluent Czech, to the medical team looking after Dryml.

Ales's mechanic and family friend, Andy Cooper, said: "It means she can respond to any questions posed by the family, rather than anything being lost in translation and the Drymls are grateful to the hospital authorities for the initiative."

The family reiterated that the messages of support from speedway fans had been a great inspiration.

The Czech star remains sedated to enable him to rest before the next steps are taken to assist his recovery.
