Thame Town fell to earth with an ignominious bump at Church Meadow in Divvision against Burnham on Saturday.

A magnifcent bowling performance from Zulfi Butt saw Thame crumble to 57 all out and beaten by 89 runs.

Butt finished with 9-31 as Thame fell to the left-handers well-spun web.

The day had started so brightly for Thame, as Luke Merry, who destroyed Beaconsfield the previous week, took his tally to 13 wickets in two matches with a stunning six-wicet display.

This came after captain Chris Wynd ,deputising for the absent Adam Krol, asked Burnham to bat.

Bowling up the hill with a following wind, Merry shot out the first three batmen, the last of them with thanks to a blinding one-handed catch in the gulley by Haresh Dahabi.

There was a brief revival, before Burnham lunched at 110-8 as Merry completed his third five-wicket haul of the campaign by trapping Butt in front with the last ball before the interval.

Burnham edged their way to 146 all out, with Merry finishing with 6-68.

Thame's response was unusually hesistant as Burnham opened with Butt taking the old ball.

Rob Brooks heaved Butt to 'cow corner' before Chris Wynd was spectacularly caught and bowled by Butt.

After Manoj Parmar departed cheaply caught in the gulley, Andy Wynd and Sam Lachlan offered some hope and took the score to 36 before Wynd fell to the guile of Butt Luke Merry smashed Butt twice to the boundary, but when partner Sam Lachlan fell bowled by Butt on 49, victory looked a long way off.

After Merry's stumps were shattered, the end was quick and painless The Thame team and supporters looked on in stunned silence. Their finall tally was 57, with only Brooks and Luke Merry making double figures.
