Kennington and Comrades Club are Oxford & District League champions.

Kennington wrapped up the Group A title with a 3-3 draw at Didcot Conservative Club, while Comrades beat Gladiators 5-1 to land the Group B crown.

Mark Trafford (5,520) and Kevin Godfrey (5,710) put Kennington 2-0 up, before Dave Tooke pulled a game back to make it 2-1.

Trafford then scored a huge 15,000 to make it 3-1 and secure the title.

However, they were unable to claim victory as Sue Atkins then beat Godfrey 5,630-5,300 and in the final game, Tooke’s 6,920 earned the draw Bletchingdon finished off with a 5-1 home win over Masons.

Pete Soanes and Shaun Brookbanks won both of their games, while Alan Lowe picked up Masons point.

In Group B, Comrades won the title in style.

Adam Thorn took the first game with an excellent 8,210-1,060 win over Phil Clark.

Chris Alexander (4,580), Craig Mace (4,410), Thorn (7,660) and Alexander (4,640) took the next four legs as a whitewash looked on the cards.

However, Bob Pincombe (4,710) had other ideas, winning the final game of the night for Gladiators.

Democrats finished second after winning 5-1 away at Headington Conservative Club.

The star of the evening was John Patey, who scored 10,020, including a break of 8,200.

Terry Green (4,990 & 6,370) Bob Parsons and Patey again claimed their other points.

OXFORD Ladies won 3-2 in their second leg at home to Reading in the Inter-Area Cup C team competition, but went down 6-4 on aggregate.

Mellissa Standbridge (4,540), Jenny Florey (3,910) and Pauline Withey, who scored 6,270, were the victors.
