Billy Trinder and Kevin Stuart both hit 14 dolls (5-5-4) in Red Lion Marston’s 3-0 home win over Yarnton British Legion in Greene King Oxford & District League Section 2, writes ANDY BEAL.

They won the first two legs 25-21, 29-21 and then set 24 in the final leg.

Yarnton matched this, but Red Lion clinched maximum points on a three stick shoot-out.

After playing for nearly 30 years, Black Swan’s Trevor Kimber finally gets his name in the Oxford Mail, but for the wrong reason.

He failed to trouble the doll in their game against Queens Head so finds himself in the ‘Blobbers’ section.

Despite Kimber’s blobs, Black Swan still won 2-1.

Queen’s Ian Bowler (3-4-6) top-scored with 13 dolls in the leg scores of 15-16, 20-19,22-21.

It wasn’t unlucky 13 for Six Bells’ James Bennett and Len Brandon as they both hit 4-6-3 in a 2-1 win at the Woodman.

However, it was unlucky 13 for Woodman’s Charlie Buckingham as he clanged off 3-4-6.

There was a shock in Section 3 as bottom team Quarry Gate beat leaders Vikings B 2-1.

Nigel Debanks led the way with ten dolls as they won the first two legs 19-18, 19-17.

Vikings grabbed a point in the final leg 23-16.

Robin Charlton (5-3-5) threw well for his 13 dolls.

Section 1 leaders Garsington Sports beat Premier pacesetters Six Bells 2-1.

Garsington won the first leg 29-25 and then set 31 in the next, but some steady throwing from the Six Bells saw them rattle up 35 dolls.

Garsington set 34 in the final leg, which proved just too much for the Six Bells as they fell three short.

Steve Ward (4-5-5) hit 14 dolls, for Six Bells as did Garsington’s Ken Maunder (4-4-6).

Gladiators’ Martin Cook (5-5-5) clanged off 15 dolls, but it was to no avail as they lost 2-1 to the Chequers.

The final leg was tied 20-20 with Chequers winning it on a three stick shoot-out.

Red Lion Garsington edged out Ampleforth Arms 2-1 in Section 5.

Ampleforth set 21 in the opening leg, but Red Lion’s anchor man, Andy Bradford, whipped off the three dolls needed to take the leg.

Ampleforth set again in the next, this time with 20, and once again Bradford came to the Red Lion’s rescue by hitting four dolls to tie the leg only for them to lose it on three sticks.Red Lion made sure of victory in the final leg 24-20.

Ray Barson (4-4-5) led the way with 13 dolls as Red Lion Cassington came from behind to beat Ashton Club 2-1 in Section 7.
