Oxfordshire Under 11s battled out a tie against Middlesex at Radley College.

Middlesex won the toss and made a steady start as they reached 55 without loss.

But a good catch by James Palmer off the bowling of Jack Tomes gave Oxon a deserved breakthrough.

Some good bowling from leg-spinning captain Aswan Ahmed, backed up by a superb spell from Thomas Dingwall (3-6) left Middlesex on 96-4.

Late wickets from Kamaal Hamid, Jonty Robinson, Tomes and Ahmed restricted Middlesex to 153-8 from their 40 overs.

Oxon’s reply got off to a flying start as Sami Khawaja and James Palmer put on a quickfire 38 for the first wicket.

William Hawtin and Palmer shared 52 for the second wicket and at 90-2, Oxon were in control.

Middlesex wrestled back the advantage, and when Hawtin fell for 20, Tom Bishop and Ben Roberts soon followed.

With two overs to go, Oxon needed 14 for victory.

All looked good until Will Polito was bowled for 32 off the final ball of the penultimate over.

This left Oxon needing eight from the last over, and this became three off the last ball.

Noah Rechter and Dingwall managed to scramble a two, as the scores finished level.
