Great Britain’s Tim Don won yesterday’s Blenheim Triathlon – setting a new course record in the process.

The former world champion put in a sterling performance of 58mins 17secs to deny Stuart Hayes a third consecutive victory in Woodstock.

Don was in the leading group for most of the race, finally pulling away in the run to win from Hayes in second, and Tom Bishop third.

“I absolutely loved my first triathlon here at Blenheim,” Don said afterwards.

“I knew I would have to be at the top of my game to get the victory”

In the women’s race, last year’s champion and reigning British Triathlon Super Series Champion, Jodie Stimpson, was on fine form once again finishing in 1hr 5mins 56secs, more than three minutes ahead of second-placed Non Stanford.

“I’m thrilled to have won it again – I have got this year’s campaign off to a great start,” Stimpson said.

“My running was very positive and I’m pleased with the performance I have put in here, especially with my family here to watch me.”

The junior elite races were won by David Bishop and Lucy Chittenden respectively.
