Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League preview
Aston Rowant may be new boys in Division 1, but they are determined not to just make up the numbers.
When asked for their targets for the season, the reply quickly came back from seamer Ryan Dutton: “To win the league”.
Rowant won Division 2 West last year immediately after claiming the Cherwell League title, so they won’t be lacking confidence as they chase a treble.
They believe 18-year-old all-rounder Karl Penhale will be one to watch this season, which gets under way with a trip to Potters Bar.
Rowant have new shirt sponsors in Original Connections, The Lambert Arms and The Fox and Hounds.
Their youth academy are now sponsored by communications company TalkTalk.
Rowant have nominated Penhale as their ‘one to watch’.
Dutton added: “Aston Rowant is one of the most picturesque grounds in Oxfordshire.
“All visitors will be met with a warm and friendly welcome.”
IN: Aaron Todd (batsman, Bayswater Morley CC, Western Australia and Finchampstead).
OUT: Tim Miles (all-rounder, Australia), Matthew Needham (seamer, South Africa).
LAST SEASON: 1st – Division 2 West.
