OXFORD City finished in second place in their first National Young Athletes League Midlands 1 South East match of the season at Milton Keynes.

Although City finished well adrift of the host club, there were plenty of encouraging signs on a wet day.

Tom Downs and Gift McLaren doubled up to win the A and B string 100m and 200m, while over the longer distances, Oskar Gordon posted good performances in the 400m, 800m and 3,000m, winning the last race in 12.09.5.

Mark Warland returned A string victories in the discus and hammer.

Performance of the day went to Michael Ruiz.

He tackled the unsual treble of 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles and 1500m steeplechase.
