Oxford United fans look set to outnumber York City supporters by some way at Wembley on May 16.

Ticket details for the Blue Square Premier play-off final(5pm) have been announced.

And Oxford have been given an initial allocation of 37,500.

The Minstermen, who took 13,000 to Wembley for the FA Trophy final last year, have been allocated around 21,000 tickets in the east end of the stadium.

The Conference have nominated a third party agency to sell all the tickets.

The Oxford tickets are priced £35 in level 1 and level 5, with under 16s priced £15, and £40 in level 2 (Club Wembley seating).

They went on sale to United’s season ticket holders and members on Wednesday and then go on open sale from Thursday.

Tickets are only be available from seetickets, online at www.seetickets.co m/conferenceplayoff/Oxford or by calling 0871 6204025.

There will be a booking fee of £3 per adult ticket or £1.50 per ticket for concessions. Postage will be charged at £1.95 for first-class or £4.95 for special delivery.

No tickets will be on sale on the day.

Full details are on Oxford United’s website.

The difference in allocations for Wembley reflects the different-sized fan bases at the two clubs, and the fact that it is much further to travel for York followers.

Oxford’s league gates averaged 6,003 last season, with York’s averaging 4,587.

And while Martin Foyle’s team pulled in 6,204 for the home leg of their play-off semi-finals against Luton, 11,963 packed in to the Kassam Stadium to see Chris Wilder’s Oxford overcome Rushden.

Anxious Oxford fans, still on a high from Monday’s thrilling play-off semi-final second-leg win over Rushden, were kept on tenterhooks yesterday as it seemed to take an age for the Wembley ticket details to be announced.

There will now be a mad rush to book places at the national stadium as Oxford fans look to emulate the 1986 Milk Cup final, when memorably, so much of the stadium was a sea of yellow and blue.
