Bayards Hill Primary School (Barton) finished third in the ESFA Under 11 Small Sided national finals for the Girls 7-a-Side Schools’ Cup at Watford FC Academy.
Having won the Oxford City, Oxfordshire and South West regional rounds, they took the minor honours after recording a win, a draw and a defeat in their three games.
Their opening game against South East champions Parklands (Eastbourne) ended in a goalless draw.
Bayards Hill then went down 1-0 to Midlands winners Newbottle (Stratford) – the first goal they have conceded all season.
That defeat put them out of contention for the title, but they finished on a high note by coming from a goal down to beat North champions Thomas Jolyffe (Durham) 2-1, with both goals coming from Molly Lygo.
It took Lygo’s tally for the season to 15 as Bayards Hill finished with a record of played 15, won ten, drawn four with only one defeat.
