Jack Midson put his tremendous second-half display in the win over Rushden down to his right eye!
The Oxford United striker had six stitches just above the eye following a clash in the first leg.
And he admitted that it was praying on his mind in the early stages of yesterday’s game.
“I was a bit worried about it,” Midson said. “I was trying to protect myself when I went up for headers early on and the ref had a go at me about using my elbow, so it did affect me.
“But after half-time it was more towards the back of my mind and I just concentrated on what I was doing.”
The ex-Histon striker said that the changing room was understandably buzzing at the full-time whistle.
“The lads were obviously on such a high,” Midson said.
“It’s a great feeling to get to Wembley – and financially will be such good news for the club as well.
“We started both games well, and deserved to win.
“We know what’s happened in terms of the league this season, but that’s forgotten now – it’s a one-game season.”
