James Constable put daylight between Oxford United and Rushden by striking a second goal on 57 minutes.
It put the U's 2-0 ahead, and 3-1 up on aggregate, after Matt Green's goal just four minutes earlier.
Constable raced on to Midson's flick, and as the keeper came out, slotted it past him, to send the Oxford fans into raptures.
