OCA League Divisions 5-11

CHIPPING Norton made a superb start to their Division 5 campaign as they thumped Horley 2nd by ten wickets.

Ben Tew and Rhys Warner-Carter took three wickets apiece as Horley were bowled out for 149.

Tew (71no) then shared an unbroken opening stand of 150 with Chris Smith (66no) to seal an emphatic victory.

Duncan Robson took 6-11 to help Kennington to a 66-run victory over Chesterton.

Batting first, Kennington hit 142-6, Graham Rowley scoring 60 not out.

Chesterton then crashed to 76 all out in the face of Robson’s spell.

In Division 6, Arshad Mehmood was the star as Garsington 2nd thrashed Freeland 2nd by nine wickets.

Mehmood took 5-24 as Freeland fell to 109 all out, before Steve Prew (66no) and Zubair Shafique (40) led Garsington to victory.

Duncan Macdonald started the season with a bang as his century helped Kilkenny to a 200-run victory over Marsh Gibbon 2nd in Division 7.

Kilkenny rattled up 258-3, Jason Penn adding 85.

Marsh Gibbon were then rolled over for just 58, Chris May taking 4-13.

Kidlington’s first game back in the OCA was ruined by the bad weather.

They rattled along to 274-9 against Stonesfield 2nd, Tim Rodway hitting 80, John Kitson 66 and Richard Walker 59, before taking the unusual decision of declaring to give themselves as much time as possible to bowl at Stonesfield.

But although Sam Rodway (4-35) helped to reduce Stonesfield to 143-6, the rain came to the rescue for the home side.

A terrific spell from Simon Gamble saw Sunningwell to a five-wicket win at Risinghurst in Division 8.

Gamble finished with remarkable figures of 6-2 as Risinghurst crashed to 53 all out, before Sunningwell reached 54-5.
