Luke Chown recorded a hat-trick of wins as Abingdon Amblers' juniors finished sixth in their first meeting in Division 2 of the Heart of England League at Nuneaton.

He clocked 11.2secs to win the under 17 men's 100m, before finishing first in the 200m in 22.9 and also won the long jump in 5.57m.

Steve Copley put up a fine effort to take the 1500m in 4mins 32.0secs.

There were 12 wins for the Abingdon youngsters, with Jemma Gregory taking the under 13 girls' 70m hurdles in 12.4, and the 100m in 13.5.

Lily Cartwright cleared a personal best of 1.46m to win the high jump, and she also sailed out to 4.42m another personal best to win the long jump.

Beth Hampson clocked 2.32.00 to win the under 17 women's 800m, and also took first place in the shot, throwing 7.12m.

In an exciting finale to the meeting, the under 17/senior women's relay team of Athena Bolton, Laura Jane Chisnall, Aimie Chisnall and Beth Hampson were victorious in 53.4.

Chisnall also set a personal best in the under 20 1500m, clocking 5.13.4.

Meanwhile, Amblers host the third round of the UK Youth Athletes League at Tilsley Park on Sunday (12).
