A last-heat win from Polish rider Karol Szymanski helped Horspath Hammers move clear at the top of the British Premier League with an 87-84 home win over Leicester Monarchs.
Torrential rain didn't help the riders but made for some thrilling racing.
After three drawn races, Horspath took a two-point lead through a 6-4 success from Mateusz and Robert Szymczak.
That increased following a 4-3 win from Danny Harper after Mark Boaler and Monarch's Howells were excluded.
A 6-4 from Karol Szymanski and Lewis Osborne then put Hammers five points ahead, only for Monarch's to take a 48-47 lead after successive 6-3 wins.
After a couple of draws at the start of the second half, a 6-3 success from Mateusz Szymczak and Boaler, restored Horspath's lead.
Heat 14 proved decisive with Horspath's Lukasz Jozwiak and Robert Szymczak blasting in a 7-3 to take a seven-point lead.
A 5-4 success from Harper stretched their lead, only for Jozwiak's exclusion in the penultimate heat allowing former Hammer Lukasz Nowacki to win 7-2.
Then it was left to Szymanski to snatch victory.
