BANBURY United manager Kevin Brock has spoken of his delight after former Oxford City striker Howard Forinton rejoined the club from Southern League Premier Division rivals Halesowen Town.

o In his last spell at Spencer Stadium in the 2004-5 season, Forinton's 22 goals were instrumental in keeping Banbury in the top-flight.

The 30-year-old, who also played for Yeovil Town after signing for them from Oxford City for £20,000 in 1997, left Banbury for Halesowen where he spent last season, scoring 16 goals.

"I'm very pleased he has returned," said Brock. "He wanted to come back to us which is a good starting point. He felt Halesowen's style of play was a bit too negative.

"Playing Howard alongside Andy Baird will improve us going forward.

"I played in the same Oxford City side as him. He's a great finisher.

"He was a pleasure to work with the last time he was here. He is a good lad and his attitude is fantastic.

"He works very hard and is a great goalscorer."

Banbury will be hosting League 2 play-off finalists Cheltenham Town in the first of their pre-season games on July 11.

They also hope to arrange a friendly against Oxford United.
