Home Counties Premier League: Henley have signed Hampshire batsman Jonathan McLean ahead of tomorrow's home Division 1 derby with Banbury. South African-born McLean appeared for Hants' first team last season, but has signed for Henley after finding himself in the seconds this campaign.

Skipper Bjorn Mordt said: "I used to play with him at the University of Capetown.

"He doesn't count as an overseas player because he has a British passport.

"We have brought him in for the season and he'll bat at No 4."

McLean, who has also played for Western Province, will only strengthen a batting line-up that saw Todd Ferguson hammer 126 on his Home Counties debut against Tring Park last week.

Mordt added: "Todd batted brilliantly on Saturday. We were 0-2 and 8-3, then he and Dave Allaway put on 160."

James Yandell and Oliver Powell are unavailable as they are taking exams at university, but otherwise Henley are at full strength.

Banbury bring in promising opening batsman Chris Smith in place of Eddie Phillips despite the latter having scored a creditable 30 against Oxford.

Hosts Oxford are without Stewart Laudat against Falkland as he is moving house.

But batsman Simon Hole is in the reckoning.

Captain Pat Jobson said: "It's our first home game, which is always important to do well in.

Jobson accepted his side were fortunate against Banbury, but stressed: "It wasn't ideal conditions.

"It was the first time that everyone was available. This weekend is a chance to build on that."

Thame Town skipper Adam Krol says his side must learn from the manner of their defeat to Burnham as they prepare to host North Maidenhead in Division 2 West.

He said: "I wouldn't call it a wake-up call, but everyone has realised we are playing league cricket now and must switch on."

Batsman Alex Wilson replaces Andrew Bartlett, who has golfing commitments.

Steve Lewis and Shiv Talsania are set to make their debuts as Bicester & North Oxford entertain Beaconsfield.

Lewis replaces the unavailable Lee Mason, while Talsania comes in for Sam Lyon, who drops down to the seconds.

Paul Jeacock and Matt Collins return, though Ben Chapman, who hit a century against Wokingham last weekend, is out due to work commitments.

Jon Watkins (university exams) and Kingsley Went (coaching) also miss out.

Oxford UCCE all-rounder Duncan Bradshaw makes his debut in place of Matt Arnull as Kidlington host Wokingham.

Captain Mark Strong said: "We batted really poorly against Gerrards Cross last week.

"We treated it like a Cherwell League game instead of a 60-over match.

"Hopefully we can put that right and get a result this time."
