Matt McStraw smashed a brilliant 142 as Great Horwood crushed Horley by 89 runs in the OCA's Airey Cup first round on a rain-affected day.

McStraw's terrific ton helped Horwood rattle up 273-7, Steve Willett chipping in with 82 and Mark Wright taking 4-47.

When Horley replied, McStraw starred with the ball, taking 4-43 as the visitors were restricted to 184-8, Nick Tarrant top-scoring on 44.

Shrivenham cruised into round two with a nine-wicket win at Marcham. Ernie Howe claimed 6-30 as Marcham were skittled for 79, and then Mark Whale hit 40 of Shrivenham's 80-1.

Elsewhere, the cup programme was badly-affected by the weather, with most games being abandoned.

However, in the Steve Dixon Cup first round, Wantage wasted little time in disposing of Steventon. Having posted 154, Francis Brown hitting 59, Wantage rolled Steventon over for 49, Wes Norton taking 6-15.

In the new Centenary Cup, Brill 2nd eased through with a 105-run victory over Hanney 2nd, while Witney Swifts 2nd's first game ended with an eight-wicket defeat against East Oxford 3rd.

All the other ties were abandoned, with replays scheduled for next Sunday.

In league action, Charlbury made a disappointing return to Division 1 with a three-wicket defeat at Oxford Caribbean. Charlbury were shot out for 97, Eddie Howard taking 3-6.

Ryan Mills (31) and Bryan Barrett (30) then saw Caribbean to victory.

Witney Swifts were on course for victory over Twyford before the rain arrived.

Despite being bowled out for 125, Swifts reduced Twyford to 55-7 in their reply before the heavens opened.

In Division 2, Faringdon won a low-scoring affair against Brill by 46 runs.

Tim Thurston (43) saw Faringdon up to 116, then Andy McDowall (4-13) helped dismiss Brill for 70.

Mark Wakefield's 6-20 helped Garsington to a 47-run win against Watlington.

Neil Jones (35) helped Garsington make 163-7, before Wakefield's haul sent Watlington crashing to 116 all out.

A stand of 134 between Jonathan Francis and Ian Clewley was the key to East & West Hendred's seven-wicket win against Uffington in Division 3.

Howard Preene (59) had helped Uffington post a challenging 192, but Francis (84no) and Clewley (38no) eased Hendred to the target, Francis's knock including six sixes.

A young Combe side crashed by eight wickets against Letcombe. They were shot out for 58, Ben Griffin taking 5-12.

Pat Bryan then hit 43 not out as Letcombe coasted in.

Rob Garrett hammered 60 as Stonesfield defeated West Witney by seven wickets.

Ed Oakley claimed 4-10 in Clifton Hampden's four-wicket win over Marsh Gibbon.
