CHINNOR dominate my inaugural Oxford Mail team of the season with no fewer than seven players making the starting XV.

After their excellent campaign, this may not be surprising, but all have consistently delivered the goods.

Alongside them are three from Oxford Harlequins and one each from Bicester, Witney, Banbury, Gosford All Blacks and Wallingford.

All players have been judged against the level they play at, so the team ranges from South West 1 champions to BB&O Premier also-rans.

I have thought carefully about my selection and players have come in and out of the reckoning as the season has progressed, but this is why they made the grade.

FULL BACK: Matt Buckley's link-up play with friend and fellow Kiwi Rewi Tolich has been key to Chinnor's success and his all-round skills made him a straight-forward pick.

WINGERS: Rewi Tolich was South West 1's joint top tryscorer with 19, one ahead of Eric Brown. With these two in the side, Chinnor have always looked threatening.

CENTRES: Andy Henley has been the bright spark in an inconsistent Quins backline, scoring 11 tries and creating many more. James Taylor has been in sparkling form for Banbury, clocking up 15 tries in Midlands 3 East South and tearing many defences to shreds.

HALF BACKS: Wallingford skipper Olli Henderson has always been in control when I have seen him, has a good range of passes, and is a reliable kicker. Gosford's Tim Sutton gets the nod at scrum half despite considerable pressure from Quins' Anthony Cope. He has shown the ability to break from anywhere inside the 22.

FRONT ROW: Joe Winpenny's consistency in the Chinnor scrum has meant the 'retired' Simon Matthews has not been too badly missed. Quins' Paul DeLange has been rock solid during his club's up and down season. South African JP Immelman has proved an inspired acquisition for Chinnor at hooker. Excellent set-piece skills and a good talker.

SECOND ROW: Craig Burrows has been the best line-out jumper I have seen in 2005/06 and has marshalled Chinnor's mauls to great effect. Bicester skipper James Shouler was similarly effective in the line, also featured in the back row and weighed in with a few tries.

BACK ROW: Jamie Cope rarely had a bad game, starring in Quins' strongest department. Witney's Carl Campbell is chosen ahead of teammate Will Worrall largely because of his defensive work and high tackle count. Paul Hennessy's return gave Chinnor's pack added muscle and experience.

REPS: Sean Bannister (Banbury, hooker/flanker), James Eckert (Grove, prop), Andy Millburn (Chinnor, lock), Will Worrall (Witney, back row), Anthony Cope (Oxford Harlequins, scrum half), Matt Watts (Witney, fly half), Henry Venners (Wallingford, centre/full back).
