Oxford Hawks signed off their Men's English League South Division campaign on a high note with a 4-2 win away to Ipswich which lifted them up to eighth in the table, third from bottom.

With their coach pulling out at the last minute due to illness, Hawks needed a disciplined performance from everyone, and that's exactly what they got.

Hawks were the dominant side but had to be satisfied with only one goal at the break, Nick Styles driving into the D and firing home his first of the season.

In the second half, Hawks extended the lead through Gareth Parker, but despite being reduced to ten men, Ipswich got back on level terms with two goals in ten minutes.

The first was from a short corner, flicked low into the net from Kier Dixon, and the second from a penalty stroke after Andy Brown brought down a home forward.

Hawks were undeterred, however, and killed the game off with two more goals through Matt Baggs and Jack Wells.

Baggs's goal came from close range after a scramble in the D, while Wells netted with a fine solo effort.
