Bradley Ward hit a hat-trick as Didcot Town manager Stuart Peace ended his hoodoo against his old club Wantage Town in the Premier Division at the npower Loop Meadow Stadium on Saturday with a 5-1 victory.

Peace hadn't beaten his former club since taking over at Didcot but, with Ward to the fore, the leaders laid that jinx in front of a crowd of 314.

Ian Concannon volleyed the first chance of the game wide before Didcot, who were without injured striker Stuart Beavon, were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute.

Wantage defender Lee Davies was unfortunate to handle Concannon's cross when the ball spun awkwardly in the box, and referee Norris awarded the spot-kick without hesitation.

Keeper Shaun Purcell saved the first effort from Concannon, but was penalised for moving too early off his line.

It was harsh on Purcell and justice was done when he made an even better stop from Concannon's retaken spot-kick.

However, Didcot's endeavour paid off in the 32nd minute when Paul Powell left two defenders in his wake before crossing for Andy Parrott to fire a left-foot shot past Purcell.

Didcot went further ahead when they were awarded a second penalty in the 43rd minute after Jamie Heapy's cross hit a Wantage player's hand.

Ward stepped up this time, and made no mistake, but this time Didcot were penalised for encroachment.

At the second attempt, Ward thumped the retake high into the roof of the net.

Ward grabbed his second in the 54th minute, blasting Parrott's cross from the bye-line past Purcell.

Wantage pulled a goal back on the hour when Bryn Ingram headed home Tom Austen's free-kick.

Ward completed his hat-trick with a clinical lob over Purcell from 20 yards in the 87th minute, but was then booked for taking his shirt off in celebration.

And substitute Jack King made it 5-1 a minute later from with a swerving drive which eluded Purcell.

Kieran Davis notched his first senior goal for Witney United as they beat Shrivenham 4-1.

With two minutes left, Davis controlled Jamie Cook's pass on his chest before rounding the keeper and slotting into an empty net.

Witney had opened the scoring in the second minute. John McMahon produced a great piece of skill to beat Mark Peters before crossing into the six-yard box where Danny Wise prodded the ball over the line.

United extended their advantage five minutes before the break when a poor clearance by Paul Carson went straight to Cook, whose shot from 30 yards hit a post and rolled into the opposite corner.

Witney made it 3-0 in the 54th minute, Cook chipping an intricate cross into the centre for Ritchie Saunders to fire home.

Shrivenham pulled a goal back in the 56th minute when Steve Thomas drilled a free-kick into the bottom corner, but Witney and Davis had the last word.

Two late goals saw Abingdon United stayed in the hunt for possible promotion after a 2-0 win at Slimbridge.

Abingdon broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute when Anaclet Odhiambo sent the keeper the wrong from the penalty spot after James Organ's centre was handled.

And Abingdon clinched victory in the last minute when Luke Holden smashed home a terrific volley from 20 yards.

Liam Hope's first-half goal kept North Leigh's promotion hopes alive with a 1-0 win at Hungerford Town.

Hope struck in the 26th minute with a low shot into the bottom corner after he received the ball following a slick exchange of passes between skipper Joe Burnell and Andy McCabe.

Substitute Steve Garbutt's late strike saw Ardley get back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Almondsbury Town.

Garbutt broke the deadlock in the 85th minute, placing a side-foot volley into the net from Tom Greene's pass.
