Cherwell League chiefs are appealing for an anonymous whistle-blower who alleged a club were illegally offering players payment to get in touch.

The mystery correspondent has written two letters to the league, signing both “The Insider” and one has been posted on their website.

But league secretary Peter Tomlin said they were powerless to investigate the alleged rule breach unless they can speak to the person concerned.

In a statement, the league executive stressed they “are determined to do all that is possible to stamp out these arrangements and payments, but we cannot do unless we have evidence to do so”.

The statement continues: “We would like to talk to the writer who has signed both letters “The Insider” and would ask that person calls the secretary on 01280 816377.

“We assure this or any other person who contacts the secretary, their identity will remain confidential.

“If ‘The Insider’ or any other person wishes the situation to be stopped we ask them to assist us to do so.”

The league are also unhappy about website postings, where individuals are being criticised by people unwilling to put their name to the comments.
