Rugby Tn 4 (Brown 34, 53, Kolodynski 39, Gordon 48)

Oxford City 0

Oxford City’s poor run of results continued on Saturday as they crash-ed to a disastrous defeat against the Premier Division’s bottom club, who were collecting only their second win of the season – and their first at home.

From their last five league games, Mike Ford’s side have managed only two draws, but this was their worst defeat.

City appeared in a determined mood at the start, penning Rugby in their own half for the the first 20 minutes.

It looked only a matter of time before they scored.

But in that time, they managed only a couple of decent efforts.

The first came when Mark Bell forced home keeper Andrew Stevens to tip a shot over for a corner.

Then, Stevens parried Andy Gunn’s header following Bell’s corner.

Rugby took the lead against the run of play.

A long ball forward saw City’s keeper Jonathan North leave his goal in an attempt to clear, but he failed to make contact, allowing Matt Brown to score into the empty net.

Five minutes later, Rugby doubled their lead when a shot from Brown struck the bar and fell neatly at the feet of David Kolodynski who tapped in.

The second half was only three minutes old when the home side made it 3-0.

A corner from Chris Hollist came to Delroy Gordon, who headed into the top corner at the far post.

The home side got a fourth when Brown went clear and skipped round North before placing home.

City tried to reduce the arrears, but their efforts on goal went straight to the keeper or were blocked as the home side sat on their lead.
