North Leigh 4 (Taylor 22, 28, Posey 64, Reardon 77)

Frome Tn 0

Two first-half headers from top scorer Matty Taylor set North Leigh on the way to another comprehensive victory at Eynsham Park which dented Frome Town’s Division 1 South & West play-off hopes.

The result extended the in-form Yellows’ unbeaten run to nine league games.

North Leigh were soon into their stride as Andy McCabe and Taylor combined to set-up Joe Burnell, who saw his rising shot parried away by Frome keeper Tom Pass.

The hosts went ahead after 22 minutes when Simon Futcher’s corner found Taylor at the near post and his high, glancing header found the far corner of the net.

Six minutes later, Taylor grabbed his second with another near post header from a pinpoint Stuart Hole cross.

Once again the pace and trickery of the North Leigh forwards was giving the visitors rearguard little respite.

Ben Reardon beat three Frome defenders and saw his rising 20-yard strike just cleared the crossbar.

North Leigh’s lead could have been extended twice within the opening minutes of the second half as the advancing Pass saved from Reardon and blocked Aaron Posey’s follow-up strike.

Then the woodwork came to Frome’s rescue as McCabe headed against the bar from a corner.

Eventually, the hosts did extend their lead when Posey placed a precise strike from the edge of the area just inside the post.

The points were secured 13 minutes from time when an uncleared free-kick fell to Reardon, who drilled low into the far corner.

The overwhelmed visitors came close to a consolation goal in the final three minutes as Luke Ballinger and Ashley Caldwell were both denied by the woodwork, but the game had long been over as a contest.
