IT’S official – St Birinus, from Didcot, are the best in Britain.
In the British Weightlifting Association’s yearbook just published, Birinus are top of two separate rankings.
Not only do they have the best junior lifter in the country in Ben Watson, but Birinus were named the best club.
This is a tremendous achievement for a school-based organisation.
These rankings were based on results in all the British championships.
Birinus won seven titles from senior to under 13 level.
The club were also successful in two European tournaments, including the Czech Grand Prix and represented Britain in a match against the Germany and Austria.
