Table-topping Oxford United, without a game today, hope to tie up a deal to bring midfielder Lewis Chalmers to the Kassam Stadium.
Boss Chris Wilder has been in talks with the Aldershot player, and may be able to finalise a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
His arrival could see the departure of Lee Fowler – signed in January, but limited to one appearance so far, in the FA Trophy win over Woking.
The deal could go through today, as the U’s are forced to take on a watching brief because of a Conference mess-up over fixtures.
Second-placed Stevanage are at home to Crawley, while York, in third, visit Forest Green.
Wilder’s team have two home games next week, against Hayes & Yeading on Tuesday night, and against Kettering on Saturday, March 13.
