Oxford Hawks’ sensational run continued with a fifth straight victory in Premier Division 2 as they beat West Hampstead 3-1.

This time it was Jono Holt, with two goals, who was their man of the match.

Hawks started slowly and were indebted to in-form keeper George Ratcliffe, who made several saves early on.

With the Coppin brothers dominating midfield, Hawks broke the deadlock.

After a good interchange, Fred Coppin struck a shot from the top of the D which was deflected into the net by Holt.

In the second half, some scrappy play led to the ball falling to Holt, who made no mistake.

In his last game for Hawks before he concentrates on his studies, Ed Hutley nearly scored to make it three.

With ten minutes remaining, Steve Collier fired into the bottom corner to make the game safe.

Hampstead scored a consoltion, but it was not enough to cause a scare.

Hawks, who looked certs for relegation three months ago, are now up to sixth and just six points behind second-placed London Wayferers with a game in hand.

And they visit London Wayfarers this Saturday.

Banbury produced a better performance to secure a 3-3 draw at Spencer in Premier 1.

Spencer went ahead when they broke through midfield with pace and found centre forward, Matt Davidson, who duly took the chance with a reverse stick shot.

Banbury equalised with a penalty corner, which Tyson Nunneley converted clinically into the top right corner.

The visitors took the lead when Richard Foreman slotted home, and a third followed as Foreman deflected in a pass.

The game then turned when Adrian Simons saw yellow through a harsh decision for hitting the ball away.

This meant Banbury were on the back foot and they leaked two goals through Christian Judd.

Joe Brownhill’s goal earned Rover Oxford an excellent 1-1 draw at leaders PHC Chiswick in the Regional division.

Oxford Hawks 2nd went down 5-3 at second-placed Eastcote.

James Brice was on target for Wallingford as they drew 1-1 at home to Staines 2nd.

City of Oxford came up against former Hawks and Oxon player Matt Baggs in their Division 1 clash with top-of-the-table OMT at Headington School.

But it was short corner expert Joe Gray, with a hat-trick from short corners, who proved their nemesis for the second time this season.

City played well in the first half and took the lead through Richard Harding, but OMT stormed back to win 5-1.

Despite a man-of-the-match performance from goalkeeper Paul Hewitson, Rover Oxford 2nd were beaten 5-2 at home by Eastcote 2nd in Regional 2. Matt Neilson scored both their goals.

Witney slipped to only their second defeat of the season, but they are still way out in front in Division 2.

They went down 4-2 at British Airways 2nd.

BA went 2-0 up early on before Mike Godwin nicked one back just before the break.

Another short-corner goal for BA ten minutes into the second half was matched by Frankie Clavaud, making it 3-2 to the hosts.

Tim Hardy was then yellow-carded by the BA umpire in a case of mistaken identity which allowed the home side to score the decisive fourth from yet another short corner.

Owen Blackburn opened the scoring for Abingdon, but it was Will Trigg’s two goals which proved decisive in their 3-2 victory over Phoenix & Ranelagh.

In Division 2, bottom club Bicester lost 1-0 at home to West Hampstead 3rd.
