Zamaretto Southern League

Cambridge City 2, Oxford City 0

A LATE, late show from Cambridge City condemned Oxford City to defeat in the Premier Division on Saturday.

City had held on for 89 minutes, before two late goals gave the home side the points.

The impressive home side were looking to establish their play-off position, and started brightly.

Following a corner from Adrian Cambridge, City were forced to defend several attempts on goal, before Mark Bell struck straight at home keeper Zak Barrett at the other end.

City’s on-loan keeper Jonathan North made fine saves from Jamie Barker and Ashley Fuller, and also turned a shot from James Krause over the bar.

For all their creative work in the second half, Cambridge could not find the finishing touch.

North denied Barker with a point-blank save, before the home side finally snatched the lead when Krause fired home.

And a minute into stoppage time, Cambridge substitute Ramon Calliste ran through to score the second.

Oxford City: North, Meade, Plantnauer, Malone, Bell, Gunn, Janes, Perpertuini, Douglas (Lyon 27, Faulkner 68), Steele, Davis. Sub not used: Lynch.
