Oxford Blues Alex Cheesman and Ian Kench made their Sale Sharks debuts in the 40-7 LV Anglo-Welsh Cup defeat to Bath on Saturday.
Kench, who has now completed his studies at Oxford, replaced Dean Schofield at lock, while Cheesman came on for Jordan Davies at centre.
Twenty-three-year-old Kench is now with Sale on a full-time basis, while Cheesman, 21, is in the final year of a geography degree.
Sharks may have lost heavily, but their director of rugby Kingsley Jones said he had been “impressed” with Kench’s performance
