Oxford United reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy for the first time with a 3-1 win at Chelmsford City on Saturday.

Two goals from Jack Midson in four minutes midway through the second half, after Franny Green had fired them in front with a fine volley, sealed Oxford's passage on a hard surface that passed a midday pitch inspection.

Chelmsford got a late consolation goal from a harsh penalty award, and the Blue Square South side were even awarded another disputed spot kick in stoppage time, but missed that one.
