Tiverton Tn 1 (Bushin 80)

Oxford City 0

Oxford City crashed to a shock defeat at struggling Tiverton in a disappointing Premier Division encount-er on Saturday.

The result meant City missed the chance to climb into the play-off places.

The home side, desperate to get away from the lower reaches, put City under early pressure.

But gradually, the visitors got forward First Steve Davis went on a run, but his finish lacked power and direction.

This was followed by an effort from Josh Emery that home keeper Steve Book dealt with.

For the home side, Alex Faux was well wide with a shot, while Tom Gardner put a header wide from a Colin Marshall free-kick.

City’s James Clarke made an excellent tackle to deny Joe Bushin.

There was more purpose in City’s play in the second half.

A free-kick from Davis saw Book save well, and the home keeper was fortune not to concede moments later when he failed to meet a cross, but Tiverton scrambled the ball away.

With ten minutes left, Tiverton scored the only goal when loan signing Elliott Frear from Exeter City sent over a cross for Bushin to head home.
