Michael Peterson has set out his stall in the trainers championship and goes into the last two meetings of the year with a lead of five points over Angie Kibble.

He is still hot favourite to land his first title and has 22 runners against Kibble's 18 for the final showdown.

The pressure is on Kibble, a former six time champion to finish with a bang, but Anderson can't let up as the battle expects to go right to the wire on Sunday BAGS card.

CURRENT STANDINGS (up to Boxing Day) M Peterson 255, A Kibble 250, P Curtin 225, T Magnasco 215, M Massey 186, P Clarke 162, G Hepden 162, T Atkins 139, I Wills 139, T Kibble 130, N Colton 128, R Hannan 128, R Bicknell 113, J Mayo 100, R Yeates 94.

l TRAINER Paddy Curtin covered his festive expenses with no fewer than eight winners over the weekend including big race winner Farlo Macho who devastated his field in the Boyne Exhibitions Sweepstake decider.

The fact that his owners won their own trophy race may have boosted his bonus, but that apart, he came in to his own at the Sunday BAGS meeting by sending out the first four winners Gowna Star (5-2), Paige and Bonnie (7-2), Farloe Corleone (4-1), Call It Betty (4-1) and just for good measure added a fifth with Tromora Promise (3-1).

Meanwhile, Curtin’s pat-ience with his highly-rated Farloe Cyclon, who broke a hock soon after joining Oxford, paid off when he came back in grand style with victory at Hall Green.

l JOHNNY Mayo is aiming Special Vintage at the Juvenile Hurdle event next month and Nick Colton was pleased with his Springbok hope Tic Tac Boom, who posted an excellent 16.29 in a two bend spin at Wimbledon.

l FOLLOWING the Boxing Day meeting, there will be a BAGS meeting the day after, with no meeting on New Year’s Eve.

Normal racing will continue with a BAGS meeting on New Year’s Day plus racing on Saturday and Sunday.
