Three players grabbed try braces as Wallingford made it three league wins on the bounce in South West 1 East with a 50-5 demolition of Wootton Bassett.

Fly half Angus Brettell, prop Kris Blaszko and full back Henry Venners all crossed twice in the eight-try romp.

Brettell broke through some weak tackling to open the scoring after just three minutes, with Blaszko driven over for No 2, wing Ralph Smith converting both.

Wing Richard Turner created Blaszko’s second, then Smith set up and created the fourth for Venners, who strolled in.

Brettell raced over for a great solo try from 50 metres, which Smith converted for a 33-0 half-time lead.

Basement boys Wootton Bassett rallied and scored a deserved try on 50 minutes.

Wallingford came to life again in the final ten minutes, with centre Johnny Collett scoring a simple try, converted by replacement Jackson Sayce.

Venners chipped ahead and collected for his second try, then Sayce set up Turner for the last score from the final play.

Wallingford now look well-placed in mid table, having won half their matches.
