Banbury Bulls ground out a 22-17 victory at Northampton Old Scouts to stay second in Midlands 2 East South.
Full back Dave Taylor won the race to his own chip ahead to put Bulls ahead, then flanker Sean Bannister fed fly half Joe Mills to run in try No 2.
Old Scouts hit back with two penalties and a try, but Banbury regained the lead when No 8 Simon Brand forced his way through and centre Peter Papenfus converted.
Taylor raced in for his decisive second try, either side of which Old Scouts slotted penalties.
