Abingdon Utd 0

Windsor & Eton 2 (Osobu 4, 40)

A tough task for Abingdon against the Division 1 South & West leaders was made even harder when Windsor scored after just four minutes.

After Abingdon’s Simon Goodrham had been denied by Windsor keeper Rob Bullivant’s fingertip save, the visitors broke upfield to score.

With home keeper Jon Beames out of goal to cover the break, the ball was pulled back to the waiting Victor Osobu, who tapped into an unguarded net.

A brave block by Beames, denied Osubu a second goal, while at the other end Billy Beechers tested Bullivant.

Five minutes before half-time Osobu made it 2-0 again from a quick break, after the ref turned down Abingdon’s penalty appeals for a foul on Beechers.

The ball was thumped upfield and Osobu, looking suspiciously offside, dummied his way past Beames to score.

At the start of the second half, Abingdon were more determined, and John Mills went close.

Abingdon substitute Elliott Osbourne-Ricketts cleared a header off the line, while Beames saved well from Michael Chennells after another quick break The home side’s chances were less clear-cut.

Mills was replaced by midweek hat-trick scorer Leon Gordon for Abingdon, who also lost Richard Peirson injured, but they could find no way back
