Defender Stuart Cattell scored a second-half hat-trick as Witney United rattled up their record victory over Letcombe in the first round of the Bluefin Insurance Challenge Cup (FTL Futbol Hellenic league) on Saturday.

It looked like being a frustrating afternoon as Witney had to wait until the 39th minute before Vinny Byfield curled home a sublime effort from 20 yards.

Just 60 seconds later Chris Harper was on hand to tap home John McMahon's cross to make it 2-0 at the break.

After half-time,Witney were rampant, and but for some excellent goalkeeping by Simon Byrne, the scoreline could have ended greater.

Ben Thompson drilled home the third, before three minutes later, Cattell prodded home from close range.

Just after the hour it was Cattell again who reacted quickest from a corner to fire in.

And the centre-half completed his hat-trick when he got on the end of Anaclet Odihambo’s flick-on.

A minute later Odihambo himself latched onto John Okole's long through ball to lob the advancing Byrne to make it 7-0 Former Witney United youngster Peter Horswell grabbed a consolation goal for the visitors with a clever finish.

But Witney had the last word when Andrew Younie hit a crisp shot into the net to secure a second round tie at home to Woodley Town.
