Kidlington will be officially welcomed back into the OCA League at Thursday's annual general meeting at Bicester Town FC (7.30pm).

The village club were kicked out of the Cherwell League in 2008 after a series of misdemeanors, and spent 2009 in the wilderness playing friendly cricket.

However, they will return to competitive action in 2010, fielding two teams in the league for the first time since 1999, when their first XI won the Division 1 title.

The club will find out what divisions they will be placed in at tonight’s meeting.

In total, five new teams will join the OCA, and with none withdrawing, the league continues to expand.

Among a raft of new proposals to be put to the meeting, is a new overseas player rule, and a rule that will outlaw paying players in the competition.

Kidlington, meanwhile, were delighted with the turn-out at their end-of-season dinner, where the 54 members present reflected on a difficult season.

Chairman John Moss talked proudly of how the club had survived the trauma of the expulsion from the Cherwell League and had moved forward in some style with the club’s fine youth system playing a major part.

Three products of that picked up awards for their displays this season, with Markus Jeacock, Josh Hills and Matt Giles all rewarded for fine displays.

The chairman’s award was presented to Karen Fido and Chris Probert, whose commitment had helped the club survive a difficult year.

Affiliated clubs and organisations are invited to the annual general meeting of the Oxfordshire Cricket Board on Wednesday, December 9.

This will be held at the Hawkwell House Hotel, Iffley, Oxford and will start at 7.30pm.

A Level 1 umpiring course will take place in February.
