Nicky Gordon’s brace knocked his former club Banbury United out of the Red Insure Cup as Woodford United held on for a 2-1 win.
Gordon struck on 19 and 30 minutes to give his Division 1 Midlands side victory in the second round of the Zamaretto Southern League competition at Spencer Stadium. Premier Division Banbury fared better after the break and pulled one back through Joe Coleman on 74 minutes, but it was not enough.
North Leigh visit Swindon Supermarine in the second round tonight.
