Saxton Rovers were pushed all the way at Lambourn Sports before winning 5-3 to maintain their perfect start to the season in North Berks League Division 1, writes Phil Annets.

Paul Churchouse (2), Danny Parry, Ben Sutton and Matt Shelton scored for Saxton, while Ben Matthews, Matthew Pedder and Chris Prior hit three second-half goals for Lambourn.

Courtney Amos was sent off early in the second half as AFC Wallingford lost their 100 per cent record, throwing away a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw at Wootton and Dry Sandford.

Craig Duncan and Ben Gladwin had put Wallingford 2-0 up before a Richard Chilvers penalty and Tom Cooke levelled it for Wootton.

Long Wittenham Athletic went top of Division 2 on goal difference following a 3-3 draw at Marcham, for whom Wes Coster scored twice and Lewis Hill also netted.

Saxton Rovers Res won a seven-goal thriller 4-3 at home to Lambourn Sports Res, with Craig O’Connor and Derek Palfrey grabbing two goals apiece.

Ollie Deehan, Jason Whaley and Steve Crame replied.

In Division 3, Sutton Courtenay and Benson AFC Res shared the points in a 4-4 cracker.

Zach Gallagher and Alijando Rodriguez scored twice for Benson, while Dan Cox (2), Tom Francis and Karl Crockford netted for Sutton.

Benson Lions ran out 2-1 winners at Shrivenham A thanks to goals from Dave Arscott and Liam Wilkinson. Nigel Hume replied.

Stanford in the Vale extended their lead at the top of Division 4 by thrashing Grove Rangers Res 6-0.

Jamie Hopgood and Jason Evans scored twice, with Steve Holder and Adam Clay also netting.

Jamie Dutton hit a hat-trick for Didcot Casuals Res in their 4-4 draw at Hagbourne United.

Luke Hammond was also on target, with Luke Ambler and Nick Guiry netting braces for Hagbourne.

A Peter Soane hat-trick helped Faringdon A to a 6-3 triumph at home to Uffington United.

Brian Ferris, John Lovegrove and Matt Curtis also scored for the home side.

A Dan Paintin hat-trick saw Bampton Town Res to a 3-1 win at Uffington United Res, which took them three points clear at the top of Division 5.

Oliver Saunders was a hat-trick hero for Long Wittenham Athletic Res in a 4-4 draw at home to Stanford in the Vale Res. Chris Bowler also netted for Wittenham.

In the North Berks Cup second round, all three ties went to form.

Didcot Casuals scraped a 1-0 at home to Hanney United thanks to a Neil Davies strike.

Crowmarsh Gifford overcame a spirited Childrey United 6-2 thanks to Paul Hannigan (2), Phil Hedges, Liam Correll, Liam Strudwick and Andy Allum.

Benson AFC saw off Coleshill United 3-1 thanks to James Oliver, Nick Skiller and Adam Hodson. Chris Dixon replied for the visitors.

In the North Berks League Cup third round, Didcot Casuals A had a resounding 6-0 win over Marcham Res.

Ben Chaffey (2), Lewis Monaghan, Dan Hartnett, Luke Ridley and Derek Davies did the damage.

Tyrone McGill hit a hat-trick in East Hendred Res’s 6-3 win at Steventon Res.

Pat Rush (2) and James Hicks made up Hendred’s tally, with Darren Pettifer (2) and Richard King replying.
