Bletchingdon bowed out in the first round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup following a 3-2 defeat by Hellenic League Premier Division side Carterton.

Trailing 3-1, it looked all over for the Senior League Premier Division side, only for Jonny Richards to set up a nerve-wracking finale.

Carterton took the lead when Jamie Butt fired home from the penalty spot and they doubled their advantage just before the break through Kevin Lewis.

After the interval, though, Bletchingdon were right back in it when Richard Wells netted. And they kept up their dominance, only for Miles Mason to make it 3-1 with a shot that took a wicked deflection.

Bletchingdon didn’t give up, Richards heading in their second, but some dogged Carterton defending saw them hang on for a win and set up a tie with Witney United Charlie Bough bagged a brace in Rover Cowley’s 3-1 victory against Fritwell.

Bough opened his account on 35 minutes with a clinical strike, before doubling his tally five minutes later with a penalty.

But a defensive slip-up on the stroke of half-time saw Ben Foster claw one back with a neat finish.

However, it was all over for Fritwell when new signing Ben Green smashed the ball home after a sharp turn on the edge of the box.

They now play Hellenic League side Chinnor.

Bardwell’s Jason Haddy went from hero to zero as his side went down to a 4-1 defeat against Horspath.

It started well for Haddy when he headed them in front.

However, a five-minute three-goal burst from James Keeble, Paul Cooper and Simon Buxton put Horspath in the clear, before Haddy compounded Fritwell’s misery with an own goal.

Substitute Kori Noonan notched a double for Stonesfield as they eased to a 3-0 victory against Eynsham.

Paul Knight gave them the lead from the spot after Dan Sherbourne was bundled over in the area.

Noonan made it 2-0 when he rifled an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards after good work from Sherbourne.

Noonan then headed a second after Martin Hall hit the Eynsham bar.
